KILEY LAWTON My work as an artist reflects my personality and attitude as a person. I am a very optimistic, bright person so I tend to use highly saturated colors. The medium I am most comfortable with using is watercolor, I love the way it appears on the paper and how it is able to be layered to create different colors that are usually not able to be brought out by most acrylics. Although, as an artist I have improved my abilities with acrylics and oil paint shown through my concentration. I also believe capturing light is everything, I believe a good light source can create a glowing effect to a piece. For my concentration I painted the big cats. A lion, tiger, and a panther. I used a mix of acrylic paint and oil paint, which made added variety to my paintings. My original concentration idea was to paint different animals that are endangered, with the region they lived in behind them. Later turned I strictly just painted big cats; I started off with painting the lion and was happy with how it came out, so I eventually decided to keep the theme of big cats. For the new background I wanted to use the colors I painted the animals with to unify the piece and activate the background to add unity. My plans for the future as an artist are definitely going to be different then where I am now. I was accepted to a Pre-Med program for college and am looking to go to medical school. Although I am not attending an art school I am planning to keep art a part of my life, whether I bring a sketchbook to school and sketch the city in order to manage my stress or create new art when i'm home from breaks. Art is an important aspect of my life and I plan on keeping it on my life for as long as I can.
